Green Retail Decisions Innovation Summit Kicks Off Tomorrow

This week, executives from 38 retailer and supplier companies will be in Chicago attending the 2nd annual Green Retail Decisions Innovation Summit, which showcases innovative sustainability work by leading industry players.

GRD Innovation Summit logo imageClose to 20 of the top 100 retailers in the United States from all channels of trade will participating in the Summit, including Kroger, Walmart, Safeway, Home Depot, Staples, Macy’s, Walgreens, Ahold USA, Polo Ralph Lauren, H-E-B, McDonald’s, Wegmans, Sears, Rite Aid, Family Dollar, Petsmart and others.

Speaking at the Summit are executives from three of the country’s four largest retailers – Walmart, Kroger and Walgreens – as well as the world’s largest mall operator, Simon Property Group. The event will kick off Tuesday with a keynote presentation by David Ozment, Walmart’s senior director of energy. George Caraghiaur, senior vice president, sustainability for Simon Property Group, will deliver a keynote presentation on Wednesday morning, followed in the afternoon by Menno Enters, director of energy and sustainability for Walgreens.

Suzanne Lindsay, director of sustainability for Kroger will present a keynote presentation Thursday morning, and the Summit concludes with a Retailer Panel including Craig Burleson, manager energy procurement, Macy's; Mike Rose, director of sustainability, PetSmart; and Bob Valair, director energy and environmental management, Staples.
