Loblaw Hosts Oceans-to-Plate Debate with Alexandra Cousteau

Alexandra Cousteau, discussed the importance of sustainable seafood with students, following an oceans-to-plate debate, which launched Loblaw's Oceans for Tomorrow campaign.
Held in Montreal, the kick-off event included seafood advocates/leaders from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and high school students who discussed the issues facing the world’s oceans some of the possible solutions.
Alexandra Cousteau is a National Geographic Emerging Explorer filmmaker and granddaughter of Jacques Cousteau. She is a member of “one of the world's most famous environmental dynasties” and “her family has been exploring and explaining the wonders of the natural world for three generations,” Loblaw said in a press release.
The special event kicked off a national "Oceans for Tomorrow" in-store campaign in select Loblaw banner stores across the country to raise consumer awareness for sustainable seafood. During the event, four defenders of the ocean come together to answer: What is the next priority in the fight for sustainable seafood? Whose responsibility is it?
In 2009, Loblaw made a commitment to sell only sustainable seafood products by the end of 2013.
