Target is expecting to reach its goal of offering only sustainably-sourced seafood by the end of this year. The mass market retailer is currently at 97 percent of its goal overall and at 100 percent for its privately-owned seafood brands.

“Today, sustainability is a major factor in decisions we make across our business,” said Amanda Irish, VP of owned brand essentials at Target. “We aim to act as a progressive force for curating sustainable products, so we can create long-term value that goes beyond Target and into our communities.”

FishWise Distributor Division Director William Wall credits multiple Target teams for coming close to meeting its 2015 Responsible Seafood Commitment. “I am very confident that Target will continue to build on this success, thereby maintaining their leadership position within the retail space,” he said.
